Today I went fishing with Travis, Nicole, Ruby, and Callie on a Kid's Soundside Adventure.

At the beginning of our trip, we got a great look at an Osprey on its nest and several Atlantic bottlenose dolphins.

On our way to the first fishing hole, we baited and threw out four crab pots. Everyone started catching fish right away and it was non-stop baiting hooks and releasing fish for quite a while. There were several double hookups. Each representative species swam around in the live well so that everyone got a close look. By the end of the trip, the kids were quite good at fish identification.

It was hot and bright so we beached the boat on a shallow shoal and went out for a little swim and hermit crab watching. We then returned to fishing and caught more bottom fish. Before heading towards the boat ramp, we released the fish from the live well.

We ended our trip with a boat tour of "Pelican Island" and checking the crab pots that we set out earlier. All the pots had four or five crabs, which lent itself to learning how to tell a male crab from a female.
