Soundside Fishing Report

Took I took Brent, Brody, Ryan, and Rick on an OBX kid's fishing charter, the Kid's Soundside Adventure. Last year we tried but could not make it out on the water so I was pleased to finally have these guys on the boat.

We started out with a quick look at a dolphin then started fishing. We hooked up to a big Cownose ray right away and it was a tug of war for Ryan before the line broke near the boat. After that, we drifted for a while and Ryan caught a nice Weakfish (grey trout). That was the only one we caught.

We moved around and caught some assorted bottom fish and a bunch of Hermit crabs, and then got excellent looks at dolphins and a mother Osprey holding up her wings to shade her young on the nest.

As we approached the ramp, we checked a few crab pots that we had set earlier. Each trap had some Blue crabs. I gave a lesson on how to tell the males from the females and a little natural history on the species.

It is always great fun for me to fish with a grandfather and grandson and they had fun as well. My man Brody was an excellent angler and had awesome manners.
