Soundside Fishing Report

This afternoon I took Amanda, John, Lisa, Ashley, and Little Man (you would never have known he was only five) on an OBX kid's fishing charter, the Kid's Soundside Adventure.

It started out bumpy with strong winds out of the north but quickly started to lay down to something reasonable. We went south toward the inlet and began fishing.

The bottom fishing was fair and we caught a nice variety, including the cool-looking searobins and puffer fish.

We decided to beach the boat and wade in the shallows. There were Blue crabs, Hermit crabs, grass shrimp, jumping mullet, and loads of tiny baby fish.

After a brief boat ride to "Pelican Island", it was back to fishing. The water was green for a change so we drifted some baits hoping for flounder. We caught some shorts but no keepers.

On our ride back we were treated to a nice look at cruising dolphins, sometimes coming quite close to our boat.
