Fish Story

In 1994, I went on a blue water charter with five good friends. We met up with Captain Buddy on the Hatteras Fever II and got underway. Outstanding day on the water catching a bunch of Wahoo, one nice Yellowfin, a bunch of Bonito, and a boat limit of Mahi-mahi. We jumped off a big Sailfish on the same trip and watched a captain named Squirrel catch and release a Blue marlin right next to us without having a reverse gear on his boat. He was literally running in circles.

Highlight: I was fighting a nice Wahoo on the starboard side outrigger rod. In a millisecond that fish ran across every other line in the spread causing Captain Buddy to start cursing at us and he pretty much never stopped. After that it was mostly because he did not think that we were catching fish fast enough. It only added to the experience.

Note: the trip cost $700 for 10 hours on the water. I think you have to add close to a thousand to that now.
